What to do before your proceed with your pregnancy decision
It's important to make sure you have the most accurate information regarding your pregnancy before moving ahead with your pregnancy decision.
First things first, you need to confirm that you are really pregnant and if the pregnancy is viable. Next, you will want to know how far along you are.
An ultrasound will be able to provide you with this information.
An ultrasound will help you determine three important factors about your pregnancy:
- Whether or not your pregnancy is viable.
- How far along the pregnancy is.
- The location of the pregnancy.
Schedule an ultrasound appointment to help you determine your next step in your pregnancy decision.
Medication Abortion (The Abortion Pill)
The method of abortion through medication, is often referred to as "the abortion pill".
In reality, "the abortion pill" is not one pill - it is a process that consists of two doses of medication and a follow-up appointment.
Other terms you may hear to reference the abortion pill are chemical abortion, medication abortion or self-managed abortion.
The first dose of medication for this method of abortion is mifepristone (RU-486 or Mifeprex). The second dose given is misoprostol.
What to do if you took your first dose of the abortion pill and have changed your mind
Have you taken the first dose of Mifeprex or the abortion pill?
Are you now wondering if there is a way to reverse the effects of your chemical abortion?
It is not uncommon for a woman to have second thoughts about her abortion, even after it is in process. If you are reconsidering your decision to terminate your pregnancy through medical abortion, we recommend that you call Abortion Pill Reversal.
Surgical Abortion Methods
After 10 weeks into pregnancy, abortions are performed through a surgical procedure.
The type of procedure is determined based on gestational weeks.
- Suction (Vacuum) Aspiration - up to 12 weeks after last menstrual period
- Dilation & Evacuation (D&E) - 12 to 21 weeks after last menstrual period
